Short description

Ponor is a dark, single-player action RPG in the spirit of Diablo II, rooted in South Slavic folklore. Descend a bottomless shaft beneath a Balkan mountain village, floor by floor, through monsters from the old tales, in search of the hero who went down before you.

Long description

Five hundred years ago, the people of Kamenica say, Perun’s thunderbolt split their mountain down to Nav, the land of the dead, and they sealed the wound with a stone. Now the stone has cracked, the river has run dry, and something screams beneath it at night. The village’s Kresnik went down to hold back the dark. He never came back.

You go down after him: as a Hajduk outlaw, a half-vampire Dhampir or a storm-walking Zduhać. A hundred floors wind around the shaft through the Karst, the Drowned Villages, the Roots and the Court of Veles, with drekavci, rusalke and worse waiting in the lamplight. Between descents, the five villagers of Kamenica trade, identify and craft, and each of them has a story of their own.

Ponor keeps what made Diablo II last, from random loot with readable rarities to sockets, a grid inventory and Hardcore, and sets it in a world that is rarely seen in games: the karst, the folklore and the Glagolitic script of the Balkans.
