Crafting

Crafting in Ponor turns a good find into your item. It works on what you bring up from the shaft, never on a recipe list, and it tells you every chance before you pay.

How does crafting work in Ponor?

Crafting is in development. It comes in four steps, from the drop to the seal, and two people in Kamenica do the work.

Crafting In development

  1. Find

    You, on the way down

Everything starts with a drop. The best items in Ponor are found, never bought, and crafting only ever improves what the Ponor gave you.

  2. Weave

    Kosara

Choose a property you want and weave it onto an item: one on a Magic item, two on a Rare. Weaving is not a gamble; you pick the line.

  3. Refine

    Tvrtko

Push the item’s numbers up, step by step. The first steps are sure; the last ones are not, and every failure leaves a crack in the item. Too many cracks and it can take no more.

  4. Seal

    Kosara

One final gamble that closes the item for good. A sealed item carries a red knot, and the seal can bless it, gift it, open a socket, bind it, wither it or unravel it.

Who crafts in Kamenica?

Portrait of Kosara, the wise woman

Kosara

The wise woman weaves the properties you choose onto your items and seals them when you are done.

Portrait of Tvrtko, the smith

Tvrtko

Tvrtko does more than refine. He breaks down what you do not need into materials, opens sockets on plain white bases, and later will reforge a base one tier up, so a favorite item can follow you deeper.

Fair by design

Odds up front
Every chance is on the screen before you spend a single material.
No save-scumming
An item’s luck is seeded from the item itself, so reloading never changes a result.
No recipes
No recipe lists to memorize and no tables of ingredients to convert.

What materials does crafting use?

Three materials, kept in a pouch of their own with no limit, so they never crowd your bag.

Iron
For the smith’s work at the anvil.
Thread
For Kosara’s weaving and sealing.
Thunderstone Chip
Chips of thunderstone, which the old folk called Perun’s arrows.
