Playable classes

Three heroes can go down into the Ponor, each from a different corner of Balkan folklore: an outlaw of the mountains, a hunter born of a vampire, and a herdsman who walks in storms.

Which classes can you play in Ponor?

Ponor has three playable classes. Each has its own starting weapon and its own way to fight, and each will grow through three skill trees of its own, which are in development.

Hajduk

Mountain outlaw, a melee bruiser

The hajduks were the outlaws of the Balkan mountains, half bandit and half folk hero. This one’s band was driven out of the high caves above Kamenica, and he wants his mountain back. He is the bruiser of the three, with the most Life and the heaviest armor.

Dhampir

Half-vampire hunter, agile at range

In the old stories, the child of a vampire and a living mother can see what others cannot and hunt what others fear. Pale and amber-eyed, with a bandolier of hawthorn stakes across his chest, the Dhampir came to Kamenica because the village paid for him in its silver. He is quick, fragile and deadly at a distance.

Zduhać

Storm-spirit walker, a storm caster

A zduhać is born marked by the storm. While he sleeps, his spirit flies out to fight the storms that threaten his valley, and he wakes with the sky’s anger in his hands. This one is a young herdsman with a blue-white lightning scar down his arm. His oldest enemy is the Ala, the hail demon of endless hunger.

Softcore or Hardcore?

You choose a mode when you create a character, and the choice is for good.

In Softcore, death costs you a tenth of your gold and some of your progress toward the next level, though nothing on the first twenty floors. You wake in Kamenica and go back down.

Hardcore is for players who want every descent to count. Death is final: the character stays in your list, greyed out, with the floor where they fell. Hardcore heroes share a stash only with each other.

A Hardcore character who fell on floor 3.

How does a character grow?

Every class grows through the same four attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Vitality and Intelligence. Each level brings points to spend as you like, and the character sheet shows what every point does before you commit it: damage, Life, Mana, armor, block, resistances and magic find, all in plain numbers.

Creating a character: a name, a class and a mode.
