Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions people ask most about Ponor. If yours is not here, the press page has a contact address.

What is Ponor?
Ponor is a dark, single-player action RPG in the spirit of Diablo II, rooted in South Slavic folklore. You descend a bottomless shaft in the mountain above the village of Kamenica, floor by floor, fighting monsters from Balkan folklore and collecting loot.
When does Ponor come out?
There is no release date yet. Ponor is in development, and the date will be announced here and on its Steam page.
Which platforms will Ponor be on?
Ponor is coming to PC on Steam. Windows comes first; Linux, the Steam Deck and macOS are planned to follow. There are no plans for consoles.
How much will Ponor cost?
The price will be announced together with the Steam store page.
Is Ponor single-player?
Yes. Ponor is a single-player game, made to be played alone in the dark.
Can I play Ponor with a controller?
Ponor is played with mouse and keyboard. Controller support and movement with the WASD keys are planned for after launch.
Which languages will Ponor support?
Ponor launches in English. A German translation is planned to follow.
Is Ponor like Diablo II?
In spirit, yes: random loot with rarities and affixes, sockets, a grid inventory, a town between descents and a Hardcore mode. It differs in its setting, South Slavic folklore instead of demons, and in its shape: one endless dungeon instead of acts, with depth instead of difficulty modes.
Which classes can I play?
Three: the Hajduk, a mountain outlaw who fights up close; the Dhampir, a half-vampire hunter who fights at range; and the Zduhać, a storm-marked herdsman who casts lightning, hail and wind.
How does Hardcore work?
In Hardcore, death is final: the character stays in your list as fallen and cannot be played again. In Softcore, you lose some gold and progress and wake up in Kamenica. You choose the mode when you create a character.
How long is Ponor?
Ponor has a hundred designed floors, each generated anew every session and taking five to thirteen minutes to clear. Past floor 100 lies Nav, which goes on forever.
What does “Ponor” mean?
A ponor is a word from the karst regions of the Balkans for a sinkhole where a river disappears underground. In the game, it is the bottomless shaft under the mountain above Kamenica.
Does this website spoil the story?
No. This website only describes the setup of the story: the village, the shaft and the Kresnik who went down and did not come back. Everything after that is yours to find.
